Decorating your new home. 09-02-2012

One of my much-preferred design methods just so happens to be in trend for 2012, in the form of ‘Eclecticism'. This way of designing incorporates the use of organic furniture shapes such as rustic wooden furniture pieces and design in the form of wall art, which can be purchased as self-adhesive motifs, or ornamental in the theme of bringing the outside in. Leaf- and tree-designed wall art can be chosen to create a themed feature wall or can be used as a key piece, such as a table lamp or ceiling pendant. The general idea of creating an Eclectic room is to keep it interesting and unique.

For a twist on the nature theme and perfect for a first-time guest in your new home, my suggested theme for your guest room is working with the peacock-inspired trend, concentrating on a mix of neutrals for walls and flooring and adding majestic splashes of turquoise and bright blues in the form of the peacock-eye pattern.
